Not when there are so many grammatical errors circulating on the internet.
I know it's silly to even bother to care about how people write/talk, but I just can't help it.
Sure, everyone makes mistakes - I know I do - but I'm not talking about tiny typos here; I'm talking about the misuse of the syntax and word classes.

Since I don't intend for this blog to be a spell check, I will just go over the basics.

Who or Whom?

Who is a subject (the one who does the action).
Whom is an object (the one the action's being done to).

Examples:
-To whom are you talking?
"You" are the one doing the action, the talking; hence you're the subject and the one you're talking to becomes the object, the "whom".

-Who is this boy?
"The boy" is the one doing the action, the one who is.

-Ing and possessive pronouns:

Always use possessive pronouns when using gerund (the -ing form, when functioning as a noun).

Examples:
-<strike>He did it without me knowing it.</strike>
-He did it without my knowing it.

-I watched him leaving the room.
-<strike>I watched his leaving the room</strike>.

Me or I?

This one is really simple if you think about it.
(Actually, I think it's embarrassing people can't tell the difference between these two. This is kindergarten level).

I is a subject.
Me is an object.

-Rachel and I like to dance.
-She talked to Rachel and me.

-Last night my brother and I went fishing.
-They called me last night.

Many people find it particularly difficult to choose between "I" and "me" when there are two subjects.
Luckily for them there is an easy way to find out which one to use.
Just pretend it only says I/me and not the other person, and see what feels most right.
E.g. "[name] and me watched a movie". Now, (hopefully) you wouldn't say "me watched a movie", therefore the correct sentence would be "[name] and I watched a movie".

I really hope I've been of any help to you guys.
And as always - just e-mail me if you have any questions (about this post or previous ones).

Good night. Sorry.

After having played some NES tonight I started thinking about what else I used to entertain myself with as a kid.

The first thing that came in mind (for some reason) was the elastic band game called "Gummi Twist", or "Rubber Twist". I don't know really, because my friends and I just called it plain "Twist".
The idea was that at least two people would stretch an elastic string around their ankles, to later on in the game move the string higher and higher up, e.g. around the hocks, thighs and hips.
Then at least one person is supposed to jump on the string in a certain way... I don't remember how though. I think there were some chants you could say too.

Does this look
familiar to anyone?

Then we have the toy animals, like Furbies. For some reason Furby never really lasted that long in my school. I, for instance, never had one, but I did however have a Chilla Chilla - a less creepy version of the Furby. Seriously, how could any kid be allowed to own a Furby? They looked just like the gremlins. Okay, so I've never actually seen any of the Gremlins movies, but still... you can tell just by the sound of their name - "Gremlins" - that they are nasty little creatures.
(Or were they good? I've just always assumed they're evil. Please correct me if I'm wrong).

Just look at the resemblance!
Furby to the left and
Gremlin to the right.

Something else that was quite popular, but that I didn't own either, was the Tamagotchi - the electronic Japanese baby? Or was it animal? Anywho, it was something you were supposed to raise. It was sort of a less high tech version of The Sims, which I by the way haven't played either. I remember hearing some people saying the Tamagotchies were great to practise raising children with... I hope for their sake they were mistaken, considering how many of my friends' Tamagotchi animals died... over and over again.

The coolest board game ever made - or at least one of the top ten - must be Hot Rocks. Unfortunately I couldn't find a picture of it on the internet. I think the point of it was to try to shoot some red plastic marbles in to your friends' goal/cage/home (you each had a "goal" you defended... it sort of reminded of a four-player flipper game) by pressing on a button. At the same time you were to protect your own "goal" from your enemies' marbles. It was in any case a really cool game (and the fact that my brother got it for me for Christmas like ten-12 years ago makes it even cooler).

Aw, the POGS. Who can forget the Pogs. However stupid it might seem to collect Pogs (I mean, they didn't have any historic value and you couldn't really do anything with them once you had won them), it was one of the funniest games we used to play during recess. What were those flipper thingies called now again? They weren't exactly Pogs per se, but a little thicker and you used them to flip the Pogs over.

And speaking of things you can win and/or lose, what about those marbles?
Probably the most ever lasting children's game there is.
There's a reason they've been around since the late 1800's.
(Everytime I write the word "marble" it makes me think of Tootles from "Peter Pan").

Well, I'm off to bed now. You could drop them on the floor from a high level and there would be practically no damage to them what so ever. I bet you could even stamp on them, and they'd still work as great as ever. And even though the hand controls look quite uncomfortable, they're actually really nice to hold.

A couple of months ago my older sister found an old NES console of hers. Of course, she has misplaced it by now, but she promised me she'd go look for it in the basement so I can borrow it when I babysit her son tonight (who, by the way, so happens to be the cutest little three-year-old there is). I am so excited! I'm going to do nothing but play NES games the next couple of days.

And what about the games. Come on, how great aren't they?
Some of my favorites growing up were:

<img style="margin: 0pt 10px 10px 0pt; The same with math and English class.
Granted, these three were my favorite classes, but still.
Now you might wonder why I consider that to be a "problem".
Well, you see, since I've never really had to study all that much, I've
never learned the right way to memorize all those text books.
Something that now, in my University years, has come back to haunt me.

Here are some tips on how to raise your grades, lower your stress level
and gain increased knowledge. In other words - how to study effectively.

** Create mind maps. This actually works since it gives you an idea of how much
work you have in front of you. There's a reason teachers tell their students to make these.

** Use colored pencils. This makes it easier for your brain to categorize the information.
It will also make your notes look neater.

** Study in a specifik room, and always use that room for studying.
Another, and maybe even a better, alternative is to go to the library.
Whatever you do, make sure there's no television in the room you're in.

** Study often but short. If you study a little every day you don't have to sit more than
two-three hours a time. Rather than studying once a week, but for six hours at a time.
This way your brain better receives the information and you'll actually understand and learn
what you've read, instead of just memorizing it.

** Turn off your cell phone. Even though one, short phone call might not seem like a big deal,
if the phone rings repeatedly it will distract you and you'll lose the thread.

** Set aside time for your studies. If you decide to study everyday from 4 to 6, then don't
make any plans with friends between those hours. Even better, don't make any plans until 7;
that way you won't hurry with the studying just in order to make sure you're done by 6.

Naturally, these tips are meant more for studying for a test (or final exam) than for your homework.

Quick blast from the past

Does anyone remember this awesome Snow White sequel called Happily Ever After?
It came out in 1993 and was directed by John Howley.
There was this red owl who always told his bat friend, Bato, to be "baaaaad".
Since the evil Queen is dead, the villain in this Snow White movie is the Queen's brother - Lord Malice.
Oh, and instead of seven dwarfs there are seven dwarfesses.

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; Stronger than truth. Heroes inspire us." -Friar Tuck, BBC's Robin Hood.
Tip of the day: If you haven't yet - watch Legend of the Seeker (or read the book series it's based upon: Terry Goodkind's Sword of Truth).
Today's little joy: I got pretty much all the cleaning done tonight :)

Except for the regular five dollars a month I give to Doctors without borders (yes, I know, five bucks isn't much, but it's better than nothing) I gave eight dollars to a clean drinking water project. I know you're not supposed to let the world know everytime you do something good, but I guess I felt like being "selfish". I mean, I've been giving money to Doctors without borders for soon four years now, and pretty much no one knows about it... so I think once in a while it's okay to let people know you're a good person (however good you are when you have to "brag" about donating to charity).
We all need to feel like we're important sometimes, I think. And besides, letting people know you help others causes an awareness, which hopefully can lead to others following your example.

Hope has a warrior.
Legend of the Seeker is my favorite show at the moment.
I love Richard and Kahlan - they are so kind.
It is so sweet how Richard always says "We'll come back and help you as soon as we can" like all the time.
Come on, how many people even stop to hear someone out when they're chasing an evil creature or are on a rescue mission? That kind of kindness is exactly what the world needs.

Before I say good night I've got a song to recommend - "My Kingdom of the Heart - reprise" from Mark Swan's movie Princess and the Pea. Or its French version, "Dans le Royaume de mon Coeur". You see, the French version of that song is just marvellous. It is sung by Claire Guyot (the singing voice of Ariel in the first dub of The Little Mermaid). In English it's sung by Dan Finnerty and Amanda Waving.

Feliz Navidad, Joyeux Noël and Merry Christmas!

Happy Name Day to: Emely, Emilee, Emilia, Emilie, Emily, Eula, Eulalia and Ula
Quote of the day: "Life is not what you go through, but how you go through it" - girl on my confirmation camp (August 2003).
Tip of the day: If you haven't, read the Alchemist. I'm so excited, I can hardly wait.

Well, since Christmas is so close, I figured I could give you guys some ideas to how to write and/or draw Christmas cards =) I'm sure you all already know how to do it, but it's always good to get some ideas, because sometimes you just get stuck.
I am still working on my Christmas cards, but I figure I'll have some of them done by tomorrow night, so I'll upload some pictures of them then!
In the meanwhile, here are som tips on a few things to think about when writing a Christmas card:
~Make it personal.
Handsign all cards, write for instance "...to you and your family", and a plus is to include a picture of yourself, your family or your pet.
~Draw your own picture.
A hand drawn card is more personal than a card from the store.
Even if you're not a good painter, at least it will show that you put down the effort :)
~If you really don't want to draw, use Christmas stickers.
      Everybody likes stickers :)

Perhaps you're gonna send Christmas cards to someone in another country...
Here's how you say "Merry Christmas" in a few languages:

Brazil: Feliz Natal (also Portugal)
Denmark: Glædelig Jul
Finland: Hyvää Joulua
France: Joyeux Noël
Greece: Kala Christouyenna
Iceland: Gledileg Jol
Israel: Mo'adim Lesimkha
Italy: Buon Natale
Japan: Merri kurisumasu
China (Mandarin): Kung His Hsin Nien bing Chu Shen Tan
China (Cantonese): Gun Tso Sun Tan'Gung Haw Sun
Croatia: Sretan Bozic
Korea: Sung Tan Chuk Ha
The Netherlands: Vrolijk Kerstfeest
Norway: Gladelig Jul / God Jul
Poland: Wesolych Swiat Bozego Narodzenia
Russia: Pozdravljaju s prazdnikom Rozjdestva
Spain: Feliz Navidad (also Peru and Chile)
Great Britain: Merry Christmas (also the US, of course)
Sweden: God Jul
Turkey: Noeliniz Ve Yeni Yiliniz Kutlu Olsun
Hungary: Boldog Karácsonyt This was the next last program for this year, and Erik made it (of course) to the finals along with another contestant - Calle.

<embed src="http://www.youtube.com/get_player" type="application/x-shockwave-flash"width="320" height="266" bgcolor="#FFFFFF"flashvars="flvurl=http://v13.nonxt6.googlevideo.com/videoplayback?id%3D3dd79f4c9df27344%26itag%3D5%26app%3Dblogger%26ip%3D0.0.0.0%26ipbits%3D0%26expire%3D1331460788%26sparams%3Did,itag,ip,ipbits,expire%26signature%3D68B6301EB7CEAB4DCFD96013F5B641124ED77EEF.73548C964774D93170194C5FA1AB8DDF79AA35BB%26key%3Dck1&iurl=http://video.google.com/ThumbnailServer2?app%3Dblogger%26contentid%3D3dd79f4c9df27344%26offsetms%3D5000%26itag%3Dw160%26sigh%3DiUJ3dGbbzPkKX_azPepF9EFyqPg&autoplay=0&ps=blogger"allowFullScreen="true" />

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://spread-some-happiness.blogspot.com/2009/12/probably-best-idol-ever-must-watch.html' title='Probably the best Idol ever... From scratch. The flat, round, somewhat big pancakes.
Today's little joy: My cozy, cozy and oh-so-good tea called "Raspberry Kisses".

This post might seem quite long, but that's because at the end of this post there's a list of the Christmas gifts I'm gonna give to my family.
The reason I'm putting it up is because I know how hard it can be to come up with good gifts, so hopefully my list
can give you some ideas =)

Good morning to yet another fantastic day in the world!
My porridge (oatmeal) is in the microwave, and the tea is simmering on the stove. I allowed myself a gingerbread just now and the Christmas songs are playing from my computer.
I am, for the first time ever I might add, using Spotify and I think it's just marvelous!
If it wasn't for Spotify I would never have found what I just did right now - the French version of "There is life" (Bambi II), sung by the unbelievable amazing Karine Costa (the voice of Jasmine (Aladdin) in French).
I've only heard this song once before, and then it was a fandubbed version and in English, sung by the great Churchangel2007 (on YouTube).
Speaking of songs (and Disney) here's a list of some of all the wonderful Disney/non-Disney songs there are, all in different languages.
Because everybody knows that the best thing with Disney is that you can enjoy its magic at whatever age ;)

Thumbelina (Poucelina) - Let me be your wings (L'amour a des ailes) French version (Singers: Lori Rault and Olivier Constantin)
The little mermaid (Den lille havfrue) - Part of that world (Leve som dem) Danish version (Singer: Sissel Kyrkjebø)
Aladdin - A whole new world (En helt ny värld) Swedish version (Singers: Peter Jöback and Myrra Malmberg)
Anastasia - Journey to the past (Reise durch die Zeit) German version (Singer: Jana Werner)
Quest for Camelot - On my father's wings (Al canfei avi) Hebrew version
Pocahontas - Colors of the wind Russian version (Singer: Teona Dolnikova)
The swan princess (L'incatesimo del lago) - Far longer than forever (La vocce dell'amore) Italian version (Singers: Marjorie Biondo & ?)

On a completely unrelated topic can I tell you that I'm in the basketarian era right now, which is my mom's fancy made-up way of saying that I like baskets ;P
Baskets are awesome, especially as Christmas gifts! (When filled with fruits, chocolates, wine etc).
Depending on what you decide to fill them with, they can be given to your parent, your relative, a friend, or even an old acquaintance - that's te perfect thing with them!
You can overdo them or... under-do them how much you feel like.
If you're one of those who have some/someone you really don't know what to give for Christmas, perhaps these three different baskets can help:

To my older brother and his girlfriend I'm gonna give a basket with
two nice bags of different flavored tees (Raspberry kisses & Heart delight),
herbs and spices in beautiful mini bags,
a block of dark chocolate,
light brown scented candles,
the book "The Alchemist" by Paulo Coelho (probably the world's greatest book),
and two pair of felt slippers (one pair for him and one for his girlfriend).

His birthday is really close to Christmas, so I'm also gonna give him the book "The lost symbol" by Dan Brown.

To my older sister and her fiancé I'm gonna give a basket with
three shower gels (one for men, one for women, and one for both. All bought at http://yves-rocher.com),
white scented candles,
a bottle of Jacob's Creek's rosé wine,
a woollen plaid,
grapes,
the book "By the river Piedra I sat down and wept" by Paulo Coelho,
and some cute scented hand soaps.

To my dad I'm gonna give a basket with
chocolate, chocolate and more chocolate.
All kinds of chocolate.

Those were the different baskets. Another great thing with them is that you can suit them after your economy. Anything looks better in a nice basket =)
As soon as I've put all the baskets with its contents together I'll upload pictures of them so you can see what they look like.

Now, to the rest of the family:

Mom: Cell phone - Nokia 2330.
No, it's not super cool phone, but it's better than her now seven year old cell. At least the 2330 has a camera =p Also, it looks nicer.
A poncho and a pair of cute gloves (to wear when in front of the fire place).
And also season one of the TV-series "Dexter".
My mom never, ever have time to watch television, but once she catched two episodes of this show and she thought it seemed so interesting. She's mentioned a couple of times that it's a shame she never has time to watch television, because she'd like to follow "Dexter". Therefore I think it's a great gift for her - now she can watch the entire first season whenever she feels like it, without missing like ten episodes :P

My nephew (my sister's son), age 3: Mom, dad and I are gonna by a tractor that he can "drive" both indoors and outdoors.
Not that we're stingy, quite the contrary, but it costs 57 EUR (86 USD), so we figured it'd be better if we all split.

My aunt: A shower gel with a nice scent & a hand lotion (both from http://yves-rocher.com).

One of my many cousins: The ceiling lamp "Knappa" from Ikea.

My cousin's son, age 1,5: A toy... sort of like Whack-A-Mole, but for very very small children.
His birthday's just a few days after Christmas, so he's also gonna get some more toys and a nice shirt from H&M.

My aunt and uncle-in-law (we're gonna celebrate Christmas at their house): A fruit basket, with a block of milk chocolate tucked in to it (here we go with the baskets again ;)).

Two of my many cousins (their kids), age 4 and 10: Me and mom are gonna by a dance thingy called "Twin Dancers". You plug it to the TV and then you're gonna step on arrows and make some dance moves. This version is for two players, which makes it perfect as a gift to the both of them.

My grandma and her boyfriend (or common-law spouse): Yup, my grandma has a boyfriend. They're out dancing square dance pretty much every weekend. Can you imagine how that makes me feel? My grandma has a far more exciting life than I do ;P (Yes, of course I'm happy for her!!!). Anyway, I've sent money to www.svenskakyrkan.se so they will provide a poor Ethiopian family with clean drinking water for about a month. I'm gonna give my grandma and her common-law spouse a card, explaining what has been donated and to what. I'm also gonna give them a bottle of Jacob's Creek's rosé wine.

To my mom and dad's cats and dog I'm gonna buy some cat- and dog treats =)

Hope you all got some inspiration for your Christmas shopping now :)
I'm gonna keep study some biology and physics now!

Take care all of you and have a wonderfully marvelous day!
